Athletic Director

Mike Cummings, Athletic Director

A Message from the Athletic Director - Mr. Mike Cummings

As we enter our 21st year of interscholastic athletics, strong traditions have already been established.  While winning is a goal, it is not our only goal. Our goal, as an athletic program, is to prepare our athletes for the challenges they will face in life, both physically and mentally.  Dedication, determination, and desire will be emphasized in practices and competitions. Striving for excellence and persevering will also be stressed. Our hope is that the lessons learned in high school athletics will not only benefit our athletes in their athletic competitions, but in their future endeavors as well.

In addition to athletics, it is expected that our athletes are students first.  They will be challenged to show the same dedication, determination, and desire in their studies as they do on the athletic fields.  Our goal is to have all of our athletic programs carry an average team gpa of 3.0 or above.

As an athletic department we strongly support the CIF’s expectations of, “Victory with Honor”.   Sportsmanship should be a major emphasis of all players, coaches, and spectators at Valley Center athletic events.  Our mission is to develop student/athletes who have the moral courage to do what is right in all situations. May VCHS lead the way in exemplary behavior both on and off our athletic venues.

Finally, a special thank you to all community members who have donated their time and financial support, without your help, Jaguar Athletics would not be a step ahead of the rest.  It truly is a team effort.

Go Jaguars!
